Formed on March 3, 2020, NEK Broadband, is a Communications Union District (CUD) that consists of all 55 towns in the Vermont counties of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans. It also serves Wolcott in Lamoille County. Within its member towns, NEK Broadband intends to bring fiber broadband to all addresses with electric utility service and without another high-speed option over the next five years or so.
NEK Broadband is a community-driven organization working to provide equitable access to high-speed internet across our region as a vehicle for ensuring the economic and social prosperity of the entire Northeast Kingdom. To achieve this, we support the development and maintenance of a network that serves our communities now and proactively evolves to anticipate and meet future needs, while balancing affordability, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility.
